3、R.®Anklesystemincludesthreefunctionalcomponents,andasetofcustomizedaccessoryinstrumentsthatareusedinthesurgicalprocedure.Thethreeprincipalcomponentsoftheprosthesisare:•Ametaltibialcomponentwithtitaniumplasmaspraycoating;•Anultrahighmolecularweightpolyethylenemobilebearing;and•Ametaltalarcomponentw
4、ithtitaniumplasmaspraycoating.Themobilebearingarticulatesonthetibialandtalarmetalimplantsurfaces,asshowninthephotographofthethreecomponentsoftheS.T.A.R.®Anklesystembelow:TibialPlateMobileBearingTalarComponentTheS.T.A.R.®Ankleisdesignedtoreplaceaportionofthetibialandtalarcomponentsofthenormalanklej
5、oint,whilepreservingrangeofmotionasmuchaspossible.TherearetwobearingsurfacesintheS.T.A.R.®Ankle:(1)theinterfacebetweentheuppersideofthemobilebearingandthefacingsurfaceofthetibialplate,and(2)theinterfacebetweenthelowersurfaceofthemobilebearingandthefacingsurfaceofthetalarcomponent.Thetibialplatehas
6、oneflatsurfaceandonesurfacewithtworaisedcylindricalbarrelsorientedintheanterior/posteriordirection.Theupperflatsurfaceofthemobilebearingslidesagainsttheflatsurfaceofthetibialplate.Theprojectingcylindersofthetibialplateservetofixthedevicetoboneatthedistaltibia.Thelowersurfaceofthemobilebearingiscon
