2、onesia(Received:15August2011;Receivedrevisedform:14February2012;Accepted:20February2012)Abstract:ThispaperpresentstheexperimentalresultsoffourlightlyReinforcedConcrete(RC)exteriorbeam-columnjointswithandwithoutbeamstubsundercyclicloadingwithconstantcolumnaxialf

3、orceappliedatthetopofthecolumn.Theparameterinvestigatedwasthetypeofreinforcementusedinthebeam,i.e.plainanddeformedbars.Testresultsshowedthatwhenthehooksanchoreddowninthecolumnincreasedthetensilestressinthediagonalconcretestrutinthejointcore,thisledtodiagonalcra

4、ckoftheconcreteandadecreaseinthejointshearstrength.TheseismicperformanceoftheexteriorRCjointswithoutbeamstubwasalsoobservedtobemuchimprovedwhenthehooktailofbeamreinforcementswasbentinsidethejointcore.Thestrut-and-tiemodelbasedontherecordedstraininthejointtransv

6、umnsframingtheissubjectedtohorizontalandverticalforceswhichareRCbeam-columnjointswasnotlargeenoughandthusmanytimeslargerthanthebeamorcolumnelements.Ifthedowelactioncouldnotbefullydeveloped.Asathejointcoreisnotcarefullydesignedanddetailed,itresult,thejointcoreco
