3、chtheymaybeachieved.Fromtimetotimewehaveaskedourselveswhetherwhathesaidin1970remainsvalidforus,despitethefactthat,inevitably,somespecificsaboutthefirm’sorganisationandindividuals’rolestherein,towhichherefersinpassinghavechangedovertheyears.Oneachoccasionwehavefou
4、ndthatitdoes,andtherebyreaffirmedourcommitmenttotheseprinciples.TheKeySpeechisrequiredreadingforeachpersonwhojoinsAruporwhowantstoberemindedofwhatweareallabout,andforthosewhowanttolearnaboutus.Initspre-natalstage,thistalkhasbeenhonouredwithwell,aswellaswecandoit–
5、andaswellasitcanbedonethenameof‘keyspeech’.Itisdoubtfulwhetheritcan–isthat.Wemustthereforestriveforqualityinwhatweliveuptothisname.Whatisitsupposedtobethekeyto?do,andneverbesatisfiedwiththesecond-rate.ThereareThefutureofthefirm?Thephilosophy?Theaims?Atthemanykind
6、sofquality.Inourworkasstructuralengineersmoment,sittinginmygardenandwaitingforinspiration,wehad–andhave–tosatisfythecriteriaforasound,Iwouldbemoreinclinedtocallit:‘Musingsofanoldlastingandeconomicalstructure.Weaddtothattheclaimgentlemaninagarden’–andleaveitatthat
