3、erionA).Inadditiontowitnessingorexperiencinganeventinvolvingseriousthreattoone’slifeorphysicalintegrity(CriterionA1),atraumaticstressormustalsoevokeanintenselynegativeemotionalresponse(CriterionA2),operationalizedas“intensefear,helplessness,orhorror”(emphasisadded,p.428).The
4、rehasbeensomequestionabout,butlittleempiricalinvestigationof,thePTSDpredictivevalueofCriterionA2.Towardthisend,astudywasconductedtoexaminedifferentialratesofPTSDamongindividualswhometCriterionA2byreporting1,2,orall3A2responses.Participantsincluded205militarypersonnel,militar
5、yretirees,andmilitaryfamilymemberswhowerereceivingservicesfrom4treatmentprogramsatanarmymedicalcenter.Forty-threepercentofindividualswhoreportedall3A2responsesmetdiagnosticcriteriaforPTSD;however,only9%ofindividualswhoreportedfewerthan3A2responsesmetcriteriaforPTSD.Theresult
