2、mentsthedesignandconstructionoflonglastingasphaltpavementsisbecomingmoreandmoreimportant.Apartfromgoodstructuralpropertiesoftheindividuallayers,inthiscontext,theinterlayeradhesionplaysanimportant,butoftenneglected,role.Inordertoachieveagoodbondbetweenthedifferentlayer
3、stackcoatsareoftenused.Thispaperdescribestheresultsofanextensiveinvestigationintotheinterlayeradhesionofgyratoryspecimensusingavarietyofdifferenttackcoats.TheinterlayeradhesionisdeterminedwiththeLayer-ParallelDirectShear(LPDS)tester.Thebehaviourofspecimenswithandwitho
4、uttackcoatonaroughandasmoothsurfaceiscompared.Anotheraspectofthispaperistheinfluenceofmoisture,heatandwateronthemechanismoftackcoats.Findingsclearlyindicatethat,althoughtheapplicationoftackcoatsonlaboratoryspecimensdoesnotnecessarilyresultinabetterinterlayeradhesion,t
