3、utsaystheFAAisLooselycoupledGPS/IRSwillmeananavigationconsideringwhethertightlycoupledGNSS/IRS1systemthatmixesGPSpositionsignalswithIRSnavigationisanacceptablealternative.inertialsignals,typicallyinacomplementaryfilterNavigationsystemsthattightlyintegrateGPSw

4、ithintheFlightManagementSystem(FMS).withanInertialReferenceSystem(IRS)areindeedHoneywell’slatestAirDataInertialReferenceanexcellentpositioningsourceforADS-B.AirSystem(ADIRS)includesatightlycoupledtransportandbusinessaircraftarebeginningtouseGPS/IRSalgorithmca

5、lledHIGH(HoneywellsuchsystemsforavarietyofreasonsunrelatedtoInertialGPSHybrid).ItisrepresentativeoftightlyADS-B,forexampletoimproveavailabilityforcoupledGPS/IRSnavigationsystemsandistheRNP0.1operations.Thistrendwillaccelerateoverfocusofthispaper.Theheartofthe

6、HIGHthecomingdecade.algorithmisaKalmanfilterthatcontinuouslyThispaperdescribestightlycoupledGPS/IRSestimates36errorstateswithinboththeGPSandnavigationsystemsandthebenefitstheyprovide.ItIRS.ThisallowsHIGHtocompensateformanyshowstheynotonlymeettheADS-BNPRMGPSan

7、dIRSerrors.Italsoallowsthecompensatedrequirementsforhorizontalpositioning,butthey(hencehighlyaccurate)inertialsignalstoalsoofferseveraladditionalbenefitsthatenhancesupplementGPSsignals,especiallywhentheGPSADS-B’scapabilitytomaintainairtrafficflowreceivercanon
