1、EImageRawPixelFormatThisappendixdescribestheOracleRawPixelimageformatandisintendedfordevelopersandadvanceduserswhowishtousetheRawPixelformattoimportunsupportedimageformatsintoOracleinterMedia("interMedia"),orasameanstodirectlyaccessthepixeldatainanimage.Muchofthisapp
2、endixisalsoapplicabletoforeignimages.E.1RawPixelIntroductionOracleinterMediasupportsmanypopularimageformatssuitableforstoringartwork,photographs,andotherimagesinanefficient,compressedway,andprovidestheabilitytoconvertbetweentheseformats.However,mostoftheseformatsarep
3、roprietarytoatleastsomedegree,andtheformatoftheircontentisoftenwidelyvariableandnotsuitedforeasyaccesstothepixeldataoftheimage.TheRawPixelformatisusefulforapplicationsthatneeddirectaccesstothepixeldatawithouttheburdenofthecomplexcomputationsrequiredtodeterminetheloca
4、tionofpixelswithinacompresseddatastream.Thissimplifiesreadingtheimageforapplicationsthatareperformingpixel-orientedimageprocessing,suchasfilteringandedgedetection.Thisformatisevenmoreusefultoapplicationsthatneedtowritedatabacktotheimage.Becausechangingevenasinglepixe
5、linacompressedimagecanhaveimplicationsfortheentireimagestream,providinganuncompressedformatenablesapplicationstowritepixeldatadirectly,andlatercompresstheimagewithasingleprocess()command.ThisformatisalsousefultouserswhohavedatainaformatnotdirectlysupportedbyinterMedi
6、a,butisinasimple,uncompressedformat.TheseuserscanprependaRawPixelidentifierandheaderontotheirdataandimportitintointerMedia.Foruserswhoneedonlytoreadtheseimages(suchasforimportorconversion),thiscapabilityisbuiltintointerMediaas"ForeignImageSupport."Howthiscapabilityis
7、relatedtotheRawPixelformatisdescribedinSectionE.10.InadditiontosupportingimagetypesnotalreadybuiltintointerMedia,theRawPixelformatalsopermitstheinterpretationofN-bandimagery,suchassatelliteimages.UsingRawPixel,oneorthreebandsofanN-bandimagemaybeselectedduringconversi
