3、s,itisnotablethatmostofthepublishedstudiesdonottakeintoaccountthepedestrians’psychologyintheirmodels.Toreflecttheeffectsofdifferentpsychologicalconditions,wedevelopamodifiedsocialforcemodel,incorporatingastopmechanismwithvariabledistance,whichisrelatedwiththepsychologicalfactorofpedestrians.S

4、imulationexperimentispresentedforvalidatingtheproposedmodel.Atthesametime,thephenomenonthatmoreanxietycausesmorecloggingisalsoobservedinthesimulation.Theimprovementinourproposedmodelisvaluableforfurtherstudyandforupgradingthesafetyaspectsofbuildingdesigns.1.INTRODUCTIONTheimportanceofpedestri

5、ansafetyandcomfort,specificallyinurbanspaces,trafficinfrastructures,evacuationsandemergencies,isgrowing,drivenbytheeverincreasingcapacitydemandsandcomplexitiesofthebuildingenvironment.Urbanrailtransitstations,airports,sportsstadiums,largepublicandcommercialbuildings,andbigeventsaswellasshoppi

6、ngmallsorcrossingsintrafficmanagementaretypicalexamplesforthisproblem.However,crowdaccidentsstillhappensometimes.Forexample,duetothecrowdstampede,251pedestriansdiedwhentheywentonpilgrimagestoMeccainSaudiArabiaonFebruary1,2004.Hence,thesafeevacuationofpedestrianshasbecomeaninterdisciplinarytop
