5、ndfortwenty-fiveyearsheldexecutivepositionsprimarilywithrailroadcompaniesinMexicoandCentralAmerica.Byrescuingnumerouscompaniesfromfinancialdifficulty,Elliottearnedareputationasanexpertbusinessorganizer.Finally,inearly1920,hemovedtoNewYorkCity.Elliott’sspecialtymadehimtheperfectchoicefor
6、oneoftheU.S.government’sinternationalprojects.In1924,theU.S.StateDepartmentchosehimtobecometheChiefAccountantforNicaragua,whichwasunderthecontroloftheU.S.Marinesatthetime.InFebruary1925,Elliottbeganapplyinghisexperienceincorporatereorganizationtoreorganizingthefinancesofanentirecountry.
