2、ecurrentIEEE802.11MediumAccessControl(MAC)protocol.Themultipollingmechanismwasdiscussedinthetaskgroup,butsomeproblemsremainunsolved.Inthispaper,weshowanoveldesignofthemultipollingmechanismwiththeadvantagesofhighchannelutilizationandlowimplementationoverhead.Inourproposedmechanism,wirelesssta

3、tionsuseapriority-basedcontentionschemetocoordinateinthemselvesthetransmissionorderonthechannel.Moreover,weproposeapollingschedulemechanismforourproposedmultipolltoservereal-timetrafficwithconstantandvariablebitrates.Theboundeddelayrequirementofthereal-timetrafficcanbesatisfiedinourschedulin

4、gmodel.Weestablishanadmissiontesttoestimatethesystemcapacityandtodeterminewhetheranewconnectioncanbeaccepted.Westudytheperformanceofourproposedmechanismanalytically,aswellasthroughsimulatedexperiments.TheresultsshowthattheproposedmechanismismoreefficientthantheonediscussedintheIEEE802.11Etas
