3、heoverlayprotocol,and,thereby,simplifythetaskoftheapplicationprogrammer.Inthispaper,wepresenttheconceptofanoverlaysocketasanewprogrammingabstractionthatservesastheendpointofcommunicationinanoverlaynetwork.Theoverlaysocketprovidesasocket-basedAPIthatisindependentofthechosenoverlaytopo
4、logy,andcanbeconfiguredtoworkfordifferentoverlaytopologies.TheoverlaysocketcansupportapplicationdatatransferoverTCP,UDP,orothertransportprotocols.ThispaperdescribesthedesignoftheoverlaysocketanddiscussesAPIandconfigurationoptions.1IntroductionApplication-layeroverlaynetworks[5,9,13,1
