2、cture[1]augmentedwithcoordinationandcontrolmechanismsinspiredbynaturalsystemsi.e.foodforagingbehaviorinantcolonies.Researchprototypesareimplementedasmulti-agentsystems.Themaincoordinationandcontrolmechanismsensurethattheprocessplansareproperlyexecutedandemergentlyforecastthework
3、loadofthemanufacturingresourcesaswellaswellasleadtimesandroutingsoftheproducts.Thedesignempowerstheproductinstancestodrivetheirownproduction;thecoordinationiscompletelydecentralized.Incontrasttomanydecentralizeddesigns,themanufacturingexecutionsystempredictsfuturebehaviorandproa
4、ctivelytakesmeasurestopreventimpendingproblemsfromhappening.Asocialcontrolmechanismensuresthatproductinstancesadheresufficientlytotheirdeclaredintentions,whichisnecessarytoguaranteeadequateforecastaccuracy.Thedesignhasbeenappliedtoanindustrialtestcase,andthepaperdiscussesresults
