2、ent,fromthedockofaPretoriacourtroom.Mandelahadbeeninprisonfortwoyearsalready,forincitingworkerstostrike,whenhewasputonthestandagainaspartoftheRivoniaTrials.NamedfortheJohannesburgsuburbwhereSouthAfricanpolicehadarrested19ANCleaders,thetrialsweremeanttobeablowagainstthegroup.ButMan
3、dela,chargedwiththreecountsofsabotage,seizedthemomenttospeakdirectlytoSouthAfricaandtheworld.Whatbeganasastatementbyanaccusedprisonbecame,overthe29minutesittookMandelatodeliverit,hisbestknownandmostimportantspeech.Itwasarecountingofhisstoryuptothatpoint,anexpressionofhisviewsandam
