4、ife,wasbornthefollowingyear.Allofhissiblingsweredestinedtohavesuccessfulcareers.HiselderbrotherRichardbecamealawyerinLondon;JohnWordsworthrosetotherankofCaptainonamerchantmanoftheEastIndiaCompany;andtheyoungestofthefamily,Christopher,becameMasterofTrinityColleg
5、eatCambridge.Afterthedeathoftheirmotherin1778,theirfathersentWilliamtoHawksheadGrammarSchoolandsentDorothytolivewithrelativesinYorkshire.SheandWilliamdidnotmeetagainforanothernineyears.Hisfatherdiedwhenhewas13.[1]Wordsworthmadehisdebutasawriterin1787whenhepubli
6、shedasonnetinTheEuropeanMagazine.ThatsameyearhebeganattendingStJohn'sCollege,Cambridge,andreceivedhisB.A.degreein1791.[2]HereturnedtoHawksheadforhisfirsttwosummerholidays,andoftenspentlaterholidaysonwalkingtours,visitingplacesfamousforthebeautyoftheirlandscape.
