2、aging(fMRI).ThefieldthathasgrownaroundtheacquisitionandanalysisoffMRIdataisintrinsicallyinterdisciplinaryinnatureandinvolvescontri-butionsfromresearchersinneuroscience,psychology,physicsandstatistics,amongothers.AstandardfMRIstudygivesrisetomassiveamountsofnoisydatawithacomp
3、licatedspatio-temporalcorrelationstructure.Statisticsplaysacrucialroleinunderstandingthenatureofthedataandobtainingrelevantresultsthatcanbeusedandinterpretedbyneuroscientists.InthispaperwediscusstheanalysisoffMRIdata,fromtheinitialacquisitionoftherawdatatoitsuseinlocatingbr
4、ainactivity,makinginferenceaboutbrainconnec-tivityandpredictionsaboutpsychologicalordiseasestates.Alongtheway,weillustrateinterestingandimportantissueswherestatisticsalreadyplaysacrucialrole.Wealsoseektoillustrateareaswherestatisticshasperhapsbeenunderutilizedandwillhaveani
