2、edonmixedtransmissionAbstractAstherisingofoceaneconomicandthedeepgoingresearchofwirelesssensornetworks(WSN),underwaterwirelesssensornetworks(UWSN)becomeshotspotrecentyears,whichappliesthetechnologyoftraditionalterrestrialWSNintounderwaterenvironments.UWSNiSacombinationofunderw
3、ateracousticsensornodes,autonomousunderwatervehicles(AUV)andaabovewaterbasestationwhichisconnectedtotheterrestrialcontrolcenter.UWSNhasthegreatapplyingprospectsuchasdatacollectionofoceaninformation,oceanmonitoring,pollutionanddisasterearlywarning,salvageandmartialapplications.
4、DatacollectedbysensornodesandAUVissendtothebasestationbyparticularroutingornavigationalgorithms.TherearesignificantdifferencesbetweenUWSNandtraditionalterrestrialWSN.Thebandwidth,networkthroughputandchannelqualityofUWSNareseriouslyeffectedordecreasedbytheuniquecharacteristicsa
5、ndruggedenvironmentofunderwaterchannel.Moreover,UWSNnodesareenergyrestrictedanditisimpracticalforbatteryreplacementinunderwaterapplications,whichbringsamajorchallengeforthedeploymentofUWSN.Thus,theproblemofenergysavingandprolongingnetworklifetimebecomeshotspotinUWSNresearching
6、.InthispaperweintroduceduniquecharacteristicsofUWSN,underwaterchannelsandnetworkarchitecture.WealsoanalyzedenergyconsumptionproblemofUWSNandexistingschemesforprolongingnetworklifetime.Thenweproposedournewalgorithmtoprolongnetworklifetimebasedoncurrentachievementsinscientificre
