2、ndsr8r8@umr.eduAbstract—Withderegulationofthepowerindustry,manytie(WACS)isproposed[1,2].TheWACScoordinatesthelinesbetweencontrolareasaredriventooperateneartheiractionsofthedistributedagentsbyforexampleusingSCADAmaximumcapacity,especiallythoseservingheavyloadcenters.(SupervisoryContr

3、olAndDataAcquisition),PMU(PhasorWideareacontrolsystems(WACSs)usingwide-areaorglobalMeasurementUnit)orotherwide-areadynamicinformationsignalscanprovideremoteauxiliarycontrolsignalstolocal[2,3].TheWACSreceivesinformation/dataofdifferentareascontrollerssuchasautomaticvoltageregulators,

4、powersysteminthepowersystemandbasedonsomepredefinedobjectivestabilizers,etctodampoutinter-areaoscillations.ThispaperpresentsthedesignandtheDSPimplementationofanonlinearfunctions,sendsappropriatecontrol/feedbacksignalstotheoptimalwideareacontrollerbasedonadaptivecriticdesignsanddistr

5、ibutedagentsinthepowernetworktoenhancethesystemneuralnetworksforapowersystemontheReal-TimeDigitaldynamicperformance[2,4].®Simulator(RTDS).TheperformanceoftheWACSasapowerThemajormotivationtohaveawideareamonitoringandsystemstabilityagentisstudiedusingtheKundur’stwoareapowersystemexamp

6、le.TheWACSprovidesbetterdampingofcontrolschemeisforthefollowingbenefits:1).Transmissionpowersystemoscillationsundersmallandlargedisturbancescapacityenhancementcanbeachievedbyon-linemonitoringevenwiththeinclusionoflocalpowersystemstabilizers.ofthesystemstabilitylimitsandcapabilities;
