2、rmofemergentcollectivebehaviorknownasflocking.Inthispaper,wepresentanovelFlockingbasedapproachfordocumentclusteringanalysis.OurFlockingclusteringalgorithmusessto-chasticandheuristicprinciplesdiscoveredfromobservingbirdflocksorfishschools.Unlikeotherpartitionclusteringalgo-rithmsuchasK-means,theFlockin
3、gbasedalgorithmdoesnotrequireinitialpartitionalseeds.Thealgorithmgeneratesaclusteringofagivensetofdatathroughtheembeddingofthehigh-dimensionaldataitemsonatwo-dimensionalgridforeasyclusteringresultretrievalandvisualization.Inspiredbytheself-organizedbehaviorofbirdflocks,werepresenteachdocumentobjectw
4、ithaflockboid.Thesimplelocalrulesfollowedbyeachflockboidresultintheentiredocumentflockgeneratingcomplexglobalbehaviors,whicheventuallyresultinaclusteringofthedocuments.Weevaluatetheefficiencyofouralgorithmwithbothasyntheticdatasetandarealdocumentcollectionthatincludes100newsarticlescollectedfromtheInter
