2、reofconflict，theauthortrytoexplorebeyondtheadolescentsideandgetamorecomprehensiveunderstandingofthisissuethou【ghfocusingoiltheperceptiondifferencesbetweenthetwosides．Moreover，theconceptof“parentalawareness’’proposedbySang(2000)hasbeenintroducedinthisstudywithanarrowredefinitionas“aconstellationofthe

3、cognitionandfeelingstowardparent--childrelationshipexperiencedbyparentswhentakingtheparentrole”．Thefeaturesofparentalawarenessofmiddleschoolstudents’parentsandthepossiblelinksbetweenparentalawarenessandadolescent-parentconflictarediscussed．Threepartsareincludedinthisstudy,mainlyusingquestionnairemet

4、hod．Part1wasdesignedtodescribethestatusquoofadolescent-parentconflictinmiddleschoolstudents’familiesinShanghai．Datawerecollectedviaaquestionnairebatteryadministeredtoasampleofadolescentsandtheirparentsfromgrade7，8，10，11．Notonlyseveralindicatorswerecalculatedtogiveafulldescriptionontheconflictsituati

5、onadolescentsperceivedwiththeirparents，butalsotheperceptiondifferencebetweenparentandadolescentwerecompared．Part2wasaimedtodevelopallassessmenttoolforthenarrowlyredefinedparentalawarenessandfindoutitskeyfeaturesinmiddleschoolstudents’families．Firstly,adraftofparentalawarenessscalewasdevelopedvialite

6、raturereview,in—depthinterview,focusgroup，andexpertevaluation．Secondly,thepreliminaryformalscalewasidentifiedthroughitemanalysisandexplorativefactoranalysisbasedonthedatafrom302parentsfrom7血，8m，10协，11血graders’familiesusingthedraftscaledevelopedinstep1．Aneventualformalscalewascompletedthroughfurtheri
