3、emarkets.Studentswilllearnhowchangesinsupplyanddemandintheproductandresourcemarketsaffectpricesandquantitiesavailable.Theywillbepresentedwiththeprinciplesofmarginalanalysis,consumerbehavior,andthetheoryofthefirm.Othertopicswillincludethedeterminationofprof

4、itmaximizingoutputandpricingdecisionsofbusinessinvariousmarketstructures,thedeterminationofwagesandincomedistribution.Thesearethetoolsthatallowtheexaminationofvarioussocialproblems,includingpoverty,trafficjam,unemployment,andpollution,tonamejustafew.Basedo

5、ntheinformationandknowledgedeliveredinthisclassandtheformingofyourownperceptionandunderstandingofthequestions,afterthisclass,studentsareexpectedtobeableto:•understandtheroleofmarketsinallocatingscarceresources;•understandtheimpact(goodandbad)ofgovernmentin

6、terventioninthemarket;•understandmediadiscussionsinvolvingbusinessandpoliciesanddistinguishwhatisreasonableandwhatarejustbogusclaims;•askgood(sensible)economicquestions,bothtoyourselfandtoothers;•offergoodargumentsregardingtheanswerstovariousreallifesocio-

7、economicproblems.Inthisclass,commentsandquestionsarewelcomeandencouraged.Thingsthatseemconfusingorcontroversialarenaturallythatwayforsomeofthetopics;studentsandinstructorsbothwillbenefitifyouaskinterestingquestions.Itisratherdifficulttofindaperfectandunamb
