2、guidanceonmanagingtheriskexposureaninstitutionfaceswhenitusesoutsidefirmsfortechnology.ThroughtheFederalFinancialInstitutionsExaminationCouncil(FFIEC),theregulatorsissuedthisguidanceonkeymanagementissueswhenoutsourcingtechnology.Theseissuesincluderiskassessment,se
3、rviceproviderselection,contracttermsandoversightofoutsourcingarrangements.Theguidanceisintendedtoassistfinancialinstitutionsthatareincreasinglyrelyingonoutsidefirmsfortechnology-relatedproductsandservicestosupportanarrayofbankingfunctions.Institutionsofallsizesare
4、usingtheseproductsandservices,astechnologygrowsmorecomplexanddynamic,creatingagreaterimpetustooutsource.Inaddition,theemergenceofnewstartupservicecompanieswithlimitedexperience,resourcesandknowledgeoftheregulatedfinancialservicesenvironmentheightenstheimportanceof
5、effectiverisk-managementpracticesatthefinancialinstitution.Institutionsandtheircustomerscanachievebenefitsthroughoutsourcingofproductsandservices.However,responsibilityformanagingtherisksassociatedwiththoseproductsoractivitiescannotbeoutsourced.Financialinstitutio
