2、ghweknewthatthisdaywouldcome,nothingcandiminishoursenseofaprofoundandenduringloss.Histirelessstruggleforfreedomearnedhimtherespectoftheworld.Hishumility,hiscompassion,andhishumanityearnedhimtheirlove.OurthoughtsandprayersarewiththeMandelafamily.Tothemweoweadebtofgratitude.Theyhavesacrificedmucha
3、ndenduredmuchsothatourpeoplecouldbefree.OurthoughtsarewithhiswifeMrsGracaMachel,hisformerwifeMsWinnieMadikizela-Mandela,withhischildren,hisgrand-children,hisgreatgrand-childrenandtheentirefamily.Ourthoughtsarewithhisfriends,comradesandcolleagueswhofoughtalongsideMadibaoverthecourseofalifetimeofs
4、truggle.OurthoughtsarewiththeSouthAfricanpeoplewhotodaymournthelossoftheonepersonwho,morethananyother,cameto embody theirsenseofacommonnationhood.OurthoughtsarewiththemillionsofpeopleacrosstheworldwhoembracedMadibaastheirown,andwhosawhiscauseastheircause.Thisisthemomentofourdeepestsorrow.Ournati
5、onhaslostitsgreatestson.Yet,whatmadeNelsonMandelagreatwaspreciselywhatmadehimhuman.Wesawinhimwhatweseekinourselves.Andinhimwesawsomuchofourselves.FellowSouthAfricans,NelsonMandelabroughtustogether,anditistogetherthatwewillbidhim farewell.OurbelovedMadibawillbeaccordedaStateFuneral.Ihaveorderedth
6、atallflagsoftheRepublicofSouthAfricabeloweredtohalf-mastfromtomorrow,6December,andtoremainathalf-mastuntilafterthefuneral.Aswegathertopayourlastrespects,letusconductourselveswiththedignityandrespectthatMadibapersonified.Letusbemindfulofhiswishesandthewishesofhisfamily.。Aswegather,whereverwearein
