3、fChinainthisregionwhilecruisingonitsjourneytothestatusofacontendingglobalpower.WhileChinahasdevelopedclosepolitical,militaryandeconomicrelationswithMyanmar,Indiaisintheprocessoffollowingsuite.AstudyofIndia-MyanmarandSino-Myanmarrelationsoffersomeinterestingaspect
4、sofhowtheyareadoptingthegeo-strategicsettingandpoliticalenvironmentoftheregiontotheiradvantage.Geo-strategicrealityMyanmarsharescommonborderswithfivecountries:Bangladesh193km,China2,185km,India1,463km,Laos235km,andThailand1,800km.IndiadominatesMyanmar'swesternbor
5、ders,justasChinadominatesitsnortheasternborders.ThailandborderstheentireeasternpartofMyanmarexceptfornarrowstripthatbordersLaos.Thailand.AndthismakesMyanmarastrategiclandbridgelinkingSouth,andSoutheastAsia.AsalittoraloftheIndianOcean,Myanmar'sstrategicvaluefurthe
6、rincreases.Its1930kmlongcoastlinedominatestheeasternarchoftheBayofBengal,leaningontotheMalaccaStrait.ThusMyanmarprovidesChinatheshortestlandandseaaccesstoSouthAsia,justasitprovidesconvenientexternallandandseacommunicationoptionstoIndia'slandlockednortheasternstat
7、es.Myanmar'soceanboundariesarebarely30kmfromtheAndamanIslandsincreasingitsmaritimesecuritypotentia.BothsidesoftheregionsborderingMyanmararemostlypopulatedbyethniccommunitieswiththeirowndistinctethnic,religiousandlinguisticidentitiesfromtherestofthecountries.Howev
