3、rinecablesmustobviouslybeusedinapowerlinkbetweenNorwayandtheNetherlands.Becauseoftheroutelength,whichis580km,thetransmissionmustbebyutilisinghighvoltagedirectcurrent(HVDC).NormalACtransmissionisimpossibleduetoprohibitivetransmissionlosses.AnN-NLHVDCsystemwillconsistoftwomainsu

5、ing,ventilationetc.SubmarinecableGeneralThetechnologyiswellestablishedandhasaverylongservicerecord.Thetechnologyisbasicallythesameasutilisedinthefirstgenerationsofhighvoltagepowercablesmorethan100yearsago.Serviceexperiencewiththesepapertapeinsulatedcablesisextremelygood.Onagen
