2、lationships.Of105familiesthatexperienceddivorce,52percentbadhostilepostdivorceinteractionsrequiringatleast1courtintervention,and31percentrequired2to10courtinterventionsinatwozyearfollow-upperiod.Thelegalreasonsforthecourtactionscenteredaroundmoneyandchildren.Commonlyobser
3、vedfamilydynamicpatternsincluded(a)bostileinteractionbetweendivorcedspousesovertheparentingroles;(b)continuedconflictbetweendivorcedspouses,butnotinvolvingthechildrenorextendedfamily;(c)perpetuationbythechildrenofinteractionbetweentheirdivorcedparents;(d)specialalliancesb
4、etweenoneparentandchildagainsttheotherparent;and(e)continuedinteractionofdivorcedpartners,perpetuatedbytheextendedfamily.Divorceisgenerallyexpectedtoresolveadisturbedmaritalrelationshipbyterminatingit,supposedlyendingmaritalconflictandallowingnewandbetterlifeadjustmentsfo
5、rtheindividualsinvolved.However,thedisturbedrelationshipcanpersistafterdivorcehastakenplace.Whenthisoccursincoupleswithchildren,thereisanimpactonallthefamilymembers:divorcebecomesafamilyaffair.Althoughmuchhasbeenwrittenaboutfactorsleadingtodivorceandthedivorceprocessitsel
6、f,theliteratureisrelativelysparseastotheextendedimpactofdivorceonthefamily[1,2,3,4,5,6].Thisarticlegivesspecialattentiontosuchimpacts;wewilldescribetheincidence,manifestations,characteristics,andbriefcasehistoriesofpostdivorceturbulencefollowingastatementofsomebasicassump
