3、useoftheirbeneficialhealtheffectssuchasanti-inflammatory,cardio-protectiveandanticanceractivities.Thesefindingshavecontributedtothedramaticincreaseintheconsumptionanduseofdietarysupplementscontaininghighconcentrationsofplantflavon-oids.Thepharmacologicaleffectof
4、flavonoidsismainlyduetotheirantioxidantactivityandtheirinhibitionofcertainen-zymes.Inspiteofabundantdata,structuralrequirementsandmechanismsunderlyingtheseeffectshavenotbeenfullyun-derstood.Thisreviewpresentsthecurrentknowledgeaboutstructure-activityrelationship
5、s(SARs)andquantitativestruc-ture-activityrelationships(QSARs)oftheantioxidantactivityofflavonoids.SARandQSARcanprovideusefultoolsforrevealingthenatureofflavonoidantioxidantaction.Theymayalsohelpinthedesignofnewandefficientflavonoids,whichcouldbeusedaspotentialth
