3、GreatCityofHeLu,anditswallmeasured23.5kilometresincircumsferencewith8pairsofland-and-watergates.ThecitybegantotakethenameofSuzhouandGusuCityduringtheSuiDynasty.NumerouschangeshavetakenplaceinSuzhouthroughitsvasthistory.Yet,inspiteofrepeateddevastation,thecityisstillseatedexactly
4、ontheoriginalsiteasitwas2500yearsago,whichisindeedaninstancerarelyfoundintheworld. Suzhouisbestknownforitsgardens:HumbleAdministrator'sGarden,LingeringGarden,theSurgingWavePavilion,andtheMasterofNetsGarden.ThesegardensweavetogetherthebestoftraditionalChinesearchitecture,painting
5、andarts. Showninthepictureaboveisthefamous"ColdMountainTemple"wherebellsarerangonNewYear'smorningasatradition. Suzhouisalsoknownasthe"VeniceoftheEast".ThecityissandwichedbetweenTaihuLakeandGrandCanal.Networkofcannels,criss-crossedwithhump-backedbridges,giveSuzhouanimageofCityont
