3、sinterface.InthepaperwegiveaninformalpresentationoftheGroupLoglanguageandillustrateitsusethroughanexample.1IntroductionInmulti{agentsystemsseveralagentscooperatetoachievesometaskthatmightnototherwisebeachievedbyeachindividualagent.Group{orientedabstractionsoerthepossibilityofjoiningrelate

4、dagentsintologicalunitsofcooperationthatmayhelpinthemanagementofdistributedcomputations.Nowadays,concurrentprogrammingremainsacomplextask.Thiscomplexitycouldbereducedbyamodelsupportingconceptsforthestructuringofmultiplecooperatingentities.Recentlysuchab-stractionsappearedattheoperatingsyst

5、emoratthemiddlewarelevels[2],butonlyfewproposalsattemptedtheirintegrationintoprogramminglanguages[30,29,20,7,33,32].GroupLogprovidesconceptsformodelingautonomousentities(agents)andcooperatingentities(groups).ThedenitionofgroupsinGroupLogisimportanttomodelagentcooperationina exibleandwell{

6、structuredmannerandtohidelow{levelmanagementofcoordinationactivities.GroupLogreliesonlogicpro-grammingabstractionsaimingatprovidingtransparencytotheuser.Furthermore,thelogicbasedapproachndsapplicationsinmultipleareas,wherethereistheneedofsomeinferencecapability(modeledbyagentsinGroupLog),
