3、ndroot-nitrogen-uptake(RNU)modelsonthebasisofrootlengthtosimulatesoilwaterandnitrogendynamics.However,thediversitiesofrootuptakeactivityamongdifferentrootsordifferentpartsofaroot,andtheeffectofsoilnitrogenlevelonRWUwereignored.Inthisstudy,twogreenhouseexperimentswithwinterwheatseedl
4、ingsculturedinnutrientsolution(Exp.1)andsandsoilcolumns(Exp.2)wereconductedtoinvestigatetherelationshipbetweenrootwater/nitrogenuptakeactivityandrootlength,rootnitrogenmass(RNM)ofwinterwheatunderoptimalwatercondition.ResultsshowedthatthepotentialRWUandRNUcoefficients(perunitrootleng
5、th)changedsensitivelywithrootageandsoilnitrogenlevel.Nevertheless,whenRNMwastakenintoconsideration,RWUandRNUwerefoundtobelinearlycorrelatedwithRNM,andthepotentialRWUcoefficientperunitRNMwasalmostaconstantforboththewholerootzoneanddifferentsoillayers,independentofrootageandsoilnitrog
6、enlevelbutdependentlinearlyonthefreewatersurfaceevaporationrate.TheinterrelationsbetweenRWU,RNUandRNMofwinterwheatunderoptimalwaterconditionwouldbehelpfultosetuprationalRWUandRNUmodelsforsimulatingsoilwaterandnitrogenmovementinthesoil-wheatsystem.Keywords:root-water-uptake,root-nitr
