5、tateofTheideathatculturecanbeemployedasatheWorld’sCities(UNCHS,2004),focusesdriverforurbaneconomicgrowthhasbecomeontheculturalimpactsofglobalisation.Pre-partoftheneworthodoxybywhichcitiesseekviousreportshadsingledouttheproblemstoenhancetheircompetitiveposition.of,
6、andopportunitiesfor,urbaneconomicAlthough,astheUNCHSreportillustrates,growth(UNCHS,1996)andtheneedforitspracticehasbecomeglobalised,itisinimprovedsystemsofgovernance(UNCHS,citiesintheeconomicallyadvancednations2001)whilethe2003studyfocusedonthattheuseofculture-dri
7、venstrategiesslumsandtheupgradingofhousinglargelyoriginatedand,atleastjudgedbythe(UNCHS,2003).Againstthisunfoldingroll-callofcitiesthatarecommonlycited,agenda,theturntoexploringtheculturalthatitsadoptionhashadthemostdramaticdimensionseemsunexceptional,notleastcons
