6、icaleconomiesofthedevelopingworld,particularlywithrespecttotheirdistributionregimes.Usingclusteranalysis,theresultsillustratethatwelfareeffortsinLDCsareeitherdirectedtowardspromotingmarketdevelopment(aproductivewelfarestate),protectingselectindividualsfromthemarket(aprotectivew
7、elfarestate),orboth(adualwelfarestate).ThediscoveryofdistinctpatternsofwelfareregimesinLDCspresentshithertounknownimplicationsfortheinfluenceofdomesticpoliticsandpoliciesinlatetwentieth-centuryglobalization.ExistingscholarshipoverlooksthepossibilityofThegrosslackofeffortstoinve
