3、smaboutthereliabilityofsensordatathat'ssentthroughtheair,andwirelesssensorssimplyhaven'tlookedveryappealing.Alow-powerwirelesstechnologycalledZigBeeisrewritingthewirelesssensorequation,however.AsecurenetworktechnologythatridesontopoftherecentlyratifiedIEEE802.15.4radiostandard,ZigBeepromisestop
4、utwirelesssensorsineverythingfromfactoryautomationsystemstohomesecuritysystemstoconsumerelectronics.Inconjunctionwith802.15.4,ZigBeeoffersbatterylifeofuptoseveralyearsforcommonsmallbatteries.ZigBeedevicesarealsoexpectedtobecheap,eventuallysellingforlessthan$3pernodebysomeestimates.Withpricestha
5、tlow,theyshouldbeanaturalfiteveninhouseholdproductslikewirelesslightswitches,wirelessthermostats,andsmokedetectorsZigbeeisawirelessstandardbasedonIEEE802.15.4thatwasdevelopedtoaddresstheuniqueneedsofmostwirelesssensingandcontrolapplications.Technologyislowcost,lowpower,alowdatarate,highlyreliab
6、le,highlysecurewirelessnetworkingprotocoltargetedtowardsautomationandremotecontrolapplications.It’sdepictstwokeyperformancecharacteristics–wirelessradiorangeanddatatransmissionrateofthewirelessspectrum.ComparingtootherwirelessnetworkingprotocolssuchasBluetooth,Wi-Fi,UWBandsoon,showsexcellenttra
