3、urationandimplementcorrespondingpreventivemeasure．Thedissertationstudiedasearchmethodforsystemstate，ariskevaluationofcircuitbreakeropen—failure，acontinualfaultevolutionmodelandaprobabilisticriskassessmentmethodforcascadingfailure．Aconclusionwasderivedfromgeneralphysicalprocessofcascadingfailures．

4、Accordingtocharacteristicofstagesincascadingfailures，aguidingprincipleofresearchoncascadingfailureswasproposed．Asearchmethodforsystemstatewasstudied，whichaimedatslowcontinualoutagestage．First,elementfaultmodelswhichpossiblyappearinthisstageweresummarized．Becauseelementfaultmodelsareinvolvedwithco

5、nfigurationsofpowernetworkandsubstation，themethodmustcoordinaterelationsamongfaultmodels；guaranteebothintegrityanduniformityofthem．Thisgoalhasbeenrealizedbyuseoffunctiongroupdecompositionandeventtreeanalysistechnique．Theresist-operationonbreakerwasspeciallydiscussed．Thepreliminaryriskassessmenton
