3、entheoathistakenamidstgatheringcloudsandragingstorms.Atthesemoments,Americahascarriedonnotsimplybecauseoftheskillorvisionofthoseinhighoffice,butbecauseWethePeoplehaveremainedfaithfultotheidealsofourforbearers,andtruetoourfoundingdocuments.Soithasbeen.Soitmustb
4、ewiththisgenerationofAmericans.Thatweareinthemidstofcrisisisnowwellunderstood.Ournationisatwaragainstafar-reachingnetworkofviolenceandhatred.Oureconomyisbadlyweakened,aconsequenceofgreedandirresponsibilityonthepartofsomebutalsoourcollectivefailuretomakehardcho
5、icesandpreparethenationforanewage.Homeshavebeenlost,jobsshed,businessesshuttered.Ourhealthcareistoocostly,ourschoolsfailtoomany,andeachdaybringsfurtherevidencethatthewaysweuseenergystrengthenouradversariesandthreatenourplanet.Thesearetheindicatorsofcrisis,subj
6、ecttodataandstatistics.Lessmeasurable,butnolessprofound,isasappingofconfidenceacrossourland;anaggingfearthatAmerica’sdeclineisinevitable,thatthenextgenerationmustloweritssights.TodayIsaytoyouthatthechallengeswefacearereal,theyareseriousandtheyaremany.Theywilln
