3、elyusedinChina.Duetothelimitationofthedesignandconstructionoftransmissioncorridor,short-circuitfaultscrossingamongtheAClinesandtheDClineswillinevitablyoccur.Besides,severeweatherinrecentyearsraisestheprobabilityofthefaults.Afterthefaulthappens,thereisdir
4、ectelectricalconnectionandinteractionbetweentheAClineandtheDCline,whichcausesthefaultcharacteristicsdistinguishfromthetraditionalAClinefault.ItwillalsohaveaneffectontherelayprotectionandfaultlocationmethodsofAClinesystems.Thispapermainlyconductsstudyonth
5、eAC-DCcrossshortfault.Firstly,basedonthe±500kVTian-GuangHVDCtransmissionproject,anAC-DCinterconnectionpowersystemwithAC-DCcrosslinesisconstructed.Thentheconductingstateofinverterisanalyzedwithdifferentsystemstatesandfailureconditions,andtheACshortcircuit
6、isobtained.Furthermore,takingDCsystemprotectionactionandunipolarlockoutintoaccount,furtherresearchonthefaultcharacteristicofAC-DCcrossshortiscarriedout.Afterwards,accordingtothefaultcharacteristicsanalysis,theadaptabilityofAClineprotectionprincipleontheA
7、C-DCcrossshort,includingdistanceprotection,longitudinaldifferentialprotectionandzero-sequencecurrentprotection,isinvestigated.SimulationusingPSCAD/EMTDCtoanalyzetheprotectionoperationcharacteristicisalsoconductedtoprovetheaccuracyoftheoreticalanalysis.Fi
8、nally,thispaperanalyzestheadaptabilityofthefaultlocationalgorithmofAClineontheAC-DCcrossshortfault.Afterthevastsimulationandverification,itshowsthatthefaultlocationalgorithmbasedonfrequency-domainmethodisunfitforAC-DCcross
