1、厦门大学硕士学位论文论密尔的政治思想：一种公共性的视角姓名：袁莉申请学位级别：硕士专业：政治学理论指导教师：王云萍20080401内容摘要既然学习西方政治思想和政治制度史的过程是一个甄别与借鉴的过程，那么，如何在一个经济并不发达，正步入现代化建设道路上的一国之内，探索富有自身特色的民主制度，培育自由平等的政治生活氛围，探讨合理的政治生活形式，逐渐形成良好的政治传统，是一个有现实意义的命题。本文围绕公共性这一视角对密尔的政治思想进行研究，通过深入细致地剖析密尔政治思想中的公共性内涵来把握制度化的民主和良好政治生活传统的生成演化脉络。探讨公共性的理论内涵离不开对公共性、公共领域和公共舆论

2、三个概念的界定，文章借助比较分析的视角来揭示公共性的含义，提出本文研究的公共性视角的建构基础是一种基于个人权利的责任意识。笔者借鉴了西方学者的研究方法，从价值内涵和实践途径两方面来分析密尔政治思想中的公共性内涵。首先从制度层面和个人层面探讨公共性内涵，其中不乏个人与制度相互作用的论证。密尔政治思想的公共性的价值内涵在制度层面上主要体现为民主、平等、功利，在个人层面上主要表现为美德、智慧与积极的性格，密尔将公民的品质和政体的特征相互对照，并在它们相互作用的框架内，得出公共性的美德观点：好的政府形式可以提高公民的美德和智慧，反过来人们美德与智慧的增进会促进政府形式的改善。最后，通过选举制
