4、hrequeststhebridgestohavehighandevenhollowpiers.Althoughthecontinuousrigidbridgeownsmeritsofitsanti-seismicperformanceasitspierandgirderarefixedtogether,theearthquake-induceddisplacementofthepiers’topwillremarkablyinfluencetheinnerforcedistribution,wh

5、ichmaypossiblycausepartialdamagetothebridgestructure.Intherecentdecadeyears,piercolumns’breakingdownispresentedasanewcharacteristicofearthquake-induceddamagetobridgestructures.Thedamagearisesfirstofallfrombridges’piercolumns,whichmayresultinthecollaps

6、eofthewholebridgestructure.Therefore,theanalysisofseismicresponseofthebridges’pieriscriticaltotherelatedresearchonthewholebridgestructure.Atpresent,theseismicperformanceofthin-wallpieranditsductilitypropertyarerarelyresearchedandthestatementaboutthisf
