2、 that grammar is a pretty inefficient way to approach a new language, particularly if the end purpose is to learn to speak it.One problem is that studying grammar is not very interesting. I feel sorry students who have to learn endless lists and rules that they may never use. H
3、ow boring. And there's another huge problem. Grammar can be used to break language down into its parts. When we study a written passage we can use grammar to identify the parts of speech, the rules, the tenses, etc. Unfortunately, however, grammar is less useful as a way of put
4、ting words back together. It reminds me of a man who opens the engine of a car and takes out all the parts. He can identify the parts, but when he tries to put the engine back together, he cannot. In the same way, I have seen many, many students who know grammar rules but who c
5、annot speak English very well. They know the parts but cannot put them together. Another approach that people sometimes take to learning English is to rely on vocabulary. In some ways, this is better than a grammar approach, but it really depends on how you do it. Learning endl
