3、makephotoniccrystalsmaterialsfromsubmicrometerballsofSi02,polystyrenelatexarrangedinto3Dorderedsll'ucturestoporous,ceramicmaterialstemplatedbythisformed3Dorderedstructuresandoilemulsion.However,theresultingstrainfromshrinkagedistortedthelatticesandsubstantiallydegradedtheopticalprop
4、ertiesofthecolloidalcrystals.Theelectrorheological(ER)orthemagnetorheological(MR)effectoffersauniquetechniquewherebythesuspendedparticlesCanbeself-assembledintobody—centered-tetragonal(bct)mesocrystallitesthroughtheapplicationofanexternalfield㈣2”.WhenERandMReffectsarecombined.thenet
5、workstructureshavebeenformedbyX.EZhaoetai.Thisprovidedausefulmethodtocontrolthebehaviorofparticlessuspendedinfluids.Threestrategiesofsynthesizingcompositeparticlesresponsivetoelectricandmagneticfieldsbycombinationofdifferentcoatingtechniqueshavebeenpresentedinthedissertation.Andthea
6、ssembliesofthepreparedparticlesbroughtabouttheappliedelectricandmagneticfieldswerethereforeexamined.ThefirststrategyisthatthepreparedFe304/PStmagneticpolymersphereswerecoatedbyamorphoustitania,andFe304/PSt/Ti02compositeparticleswereformed.Themorphologyandthestructureoftheparticleswe
