2、tonicbandgaps(PBG)andphotonielocalization,andmanypotentialapplicationsincommunicatione,anbeexpected.Tofindatwo-dimensionalphotoniccrystalstructure、Ⅳitllalargercompletegapisstilloneoftheresearchdirectionsinthisfieldforitsmorcpotentialapplications.Thesymmetryplaysanimportant
3、roleinformingacompletePBGHowever,inmanycrystalstherearenocompletePBGbecausethebanddegeneraciesatlatticesymmetrypoints.Byreducingthelatticesymmetry,thesedegeneraciescallbeliftedtoincreasealargercompletePBGThreemethodstoobtainalargercompletePBGareproposedinthispaper:thefirst
4、methoddiscussestheeffectsofshapesandorientationsofscatterersandlatticesymmetriesonthecompletePBGFortriangular,hexagonalandsquarelattices,thelargestcompletePBGineachkindoflatticeisproducedbythescattererswiththesamesymmetry.Thesecondmethodshowsthatbyaddingarodintotheunitcell
5、andtheoperationofglideinsquarelattice(Lauegroup4mm)CanobtainanewstructurewithalargercompletePBGThethirdmethoddiscussesthecompletePBGintwo—dimensionalchessboardofnon-Bravaislattice.TheresultshowsthatthisnewstructureiseasierthanthechessboardlatticestructureinmakingcompletePB
