2、tonicbandgaps(PBG)andphotonielocalization，andmanypotentialapplicationsincommunicatione,anbeexpected．Tofindatwo-dimensionalphotoniccrystalstructure、Ⅳitllalargercompletegapisstilloneoftheresearchdirectionsinthisfieldforitsmorcpotentialapplications．Thesymmetryplaysanimportant

3、roleinformingacompletePBGHowever,inmanycrystalstherearenocompletePBGbecausethebanddegeneraciesatlatticesymmetrypoints．Byreducingthelatticesymmetry,thesedegeneraciescallbeliftedtoincreasealargercompletePBGThreemethodstoobtainalargercompletePBGareproposedinthispaper：thefirst

4、methoddiscussestheeffectsofshapesandorientationsofscatterersandlatticesymmetriesonthecompletePBGFortriangular,hexagonalandsquarelattices，thelargestcompletePBGineachkindoflatticeisproducedbythescattererswiththesamesymmetry．Thesecondmethodshowsthatbyaddingarodintotheunitcell

5、andtheoperationofglideinsquarelattice(Lauegroup4mm)CanobtainanewstructurewithalargercompletePBGThethirdmethoddiscussesthecompletePBGintwo—dimensionalchessboardofnon-Bravaislattice．TheresultshowsthatthisnewstructureiseasierthanthechessboardlatticestructureinmakingcompletePB
