2、eteCzochralskicrystalgrowthprocess.Twobasictimescalesareconsidered.Theshortscaleconcernsthebasictransientsassociatedwithflowoscillationsatdifferentprocessstages.Accurateunderstandingoftheflowmechanismsatthisscaleisrequiredtodevelopanaverageaxisymmetricflowmodelforcompletedynam
3、icsimulations.Thelongtimescaleisassociatedwiththetransientscausedbytheslowersystemevolutionoccurringduringthecompletegrowthprocess.Inordertofocusonthefundamentaleffectsgoverningtheflow,amodelproblemisconsideredwheretheliquidisplacedintoapossiblyrotatingcontainerwhileadiskofsma
4、llerdiameterrotatesonitstopsurface.Boththecontainerandthediskareisothermal.Severaltransienteffectsareinvestigatedincludingtheeffectofdiskradiusincreaseordecrease,andabruptchangesofdiskorcontainertemperatureorrotationrate.Introduction:dynamicmodelingofcrystalgrowthbymeansoftheF
5、EMAGsoftwareThereisincreasingdemandtodayforrobust,reliableanduser-friendlysoftwaretomodelbulkgrowthtechniquessuchastheCzochralski(Cz),LiquidEncapsulatedCzochralski(LEC),FloatingZone(FZ)andVerticalBridgman(VB)processes.Theaimistohelppredict,designandcontrolthegrowthprocesses,an
6、dtobetterunderstandthefactorsaffectingcrystalquality.However,thegrowthtechniquesaremoreandmorecomplex,andoptimizationcanbeachievedonlybyuseofsuitablenumericalmodelingthataccountsfortheseverelynon-linearphysicalphenomenainvolvedaswellasforthehighsystemthermalinertia.Theresultin
7、gproblemiscoupled,global,nonlinearanddynamic.Ontheotherhand,accuratepredictionofcrystalqualityrequiresbothappropriatemodelingofthegoverningphysics,andhighlyaccuratedynamicnumericalmethodsforcomputingtheevolutionofthesolid-liquidinterfaceshapeandthetemperaturefieldgradient5init
