3、canbeeectivelygeneratedwithnegligibleadverseeectonthe¯owcoecient.Inthisstudy,turbulencecharacteristicsofthetumble¯owinafour-valveenginewereinvestigatedbylaserDopplervelocimetry(LDV)andanalyzedbymeansofturbulenceintensity,integraltimeandlengthscales,andenergyspectrum.Thedataratewass
4、ucientlyhightoallowthebulkvelocitytobecharacterizedinindividualcyclesat500and1000rpmfortwodierentintakeports.Theintegraltimescalesobtainedbythreekindsofdierentde®nitionsandtheircharacteristicswerecompared.Theresultsshowthattumblecausesturbulenceintensitytoincreaseconsiderablyduring
