2、iesworkingininformationprocessing,IFIP’saimistwo-fold:tosupportinformationprocessingwithinitsmembercountriesandtoencouragetechnologytransfertodevelopingnations.Asitsmissionstatementclearlystates,IFIP’smissionistobetheleading,trulyinternational,apoliticalorganiza
3、tionwhichencouragesandassistsinthedevelopment,exploitationandapplicationofinformationtechnologyforthebenefitofallpeople.IFIPisanon-profitmakingorganization,runalmostsolelyby2500volunteers.Itoperatesthroughanumberoftechnicalcommittees,whichorganizeeventsandpublic
4、ations.IFIP’seventsrangefromaninternationalcongresstolocalseminars,butthemostimportantare:TheIFIPWorldComputerCongress,heldeverysecondyear;Openconferences;Workingconferences.TheflagshipeventistheIFIPWorldComputerCongress,atwhichbothinvitedandcontributedpapersare
5、presented.Contributedpapersarerigorouslyrefereedandtherejectionrateishigh.AswiththeCongress,participationintheopenconferencesisopentoallandpapersmaybeinvitedorsubmitted.Again,submittedpapersarestringentlyrefereed.Theworkingconferencesarestructureddifferently.The
6、yareusuallyrunbyaworkinggroupandattendanceissmallandbyinvitationonly.Theirpurposeistocreateanatmosphereconducivetoinnovationanddevelopment.Refereeingislessrigorousandpapersaresubjectedtoextensivegroupdiscussion.PublicationsarisingfromIFIPeventsvary.Thepaperspres
7、entedattheIFIPWorldComputerCongressandatopenconferencesarepublishedasconferenceproceedings,whiletheresultsoftheworkingconferencesareoftenpublishedascollectionsofselectedandeditedpapers.Anynationalsocietywhoseprimaryactivityisininformationmayapplytobecomeafullmem
8、berofIFIP,althoughfullmembershipisrestrictedtoonesocietypercountry.FullmembersareentitledtovoteattheannualGeneralAssembly,Nationalsocietiespreferringalesscommittedinv
