2、icsinMedicine,Oxford.ThedialogboxinterfacewaswrittenbyTomSteichen.1IntroductionMeta-analysisisthestatisticalmethodologyusedtocombinedatafromtwoormorestudiesthathaveaddressedthesamequestion.SeveralmethodsforthistypeofanalysishavebeenimplementedintheStatasoftware,inclu
3、dingbasicanalysesofaggregatedata(metaandmetancommands),cumulativemeta-analysis(metacum),diagnostics(metainf,metabias,metatrim,galbr,funnel)andmeta-regression(metareg).AlloftheseprogramswereoriginallywrittenfortheStataTechnicalBulletin,andaredescribedindetailintheresp
4、ectivesubmissions.Chapter18ofEggeretal.(2001;availableonlineathttp://www.bmjpg.com/books/sysrev/chapter18.pdf)formsamorecompleteintroductiontometa-analysisinStata.Thistextdescribesonlyasubsetofthesemethods.Thearticlefallsintwoparts:toillustrateenhancementstothemetan,
5、funnelandlabbeprogramspreviouslysubmittedtotheStataTechnicalBulletinin1998(Bradburnetal.),andtointroduceanewcommand,metannt.Section2startsbyrecappingonwhattheexistingprogramsdobeforesummarisingthenewadditions,togetherwithexamplesthatdemonstratetheiruse,andwillalsoint
