2、portinformationprocessingwithinitsmembercountriesandtoencouragetechnologytransfertodevelopingnations.Asitsmissionstatementclearlystates,IFIP’smissionistobetheleading,trulyinternational,apoliticalorganizationwhichencouragesandassistsinthedevelopment,exploitationandapplicationofinforma

3、tiontechnologyforthebenefitofallpeople.IFIPisanon-profitmakingorganization,runalmostsolelyby2500volunteers.Itoperatesthroughanumberoftechnicalcommittees,whichorganizeeventsandpublications.IFIP’seventsrangefromaninternationalcongresstolocalseminars,butthemostimportantare:TheIFIPWorldC

4、omputerCongress,heldeverysecondyear;Openconferences;Workingconferences.TheflagshipeventistheIFIPWorldComputerCongress,atwhichbothinvitedandcontributedpapersarepresented.Contributedpapersarerigorouslyrefereedandtherejectionrateishigh.AswiththeCongress,participationintheopenconferences

5、isopentoallandpapersmaybeinvitedorsubmitted.Again,submittedpapersarestringentlyrefereed.Theworkingconferencesarestructureddifferently.Theyareusuallyrunbyaworkinggroupandattendanceissmallandbyinvitationonly.Theirpurposeistocreateanatmosphereconducivetoinnovationanddevelopment.Refereei

6、ngislessrigorousandpapersaresubjectedtoextensivegroupdiscussion.PublicationsarisingfromIFIPeventsvary.ThepaperspresentedattheIFIPWorldComputerCongressandatopenconferencesarepublishedasconferenceproceedings,whiletheresultsoftheworkingconferencesareoftenpublishedascollectionsofselected

7、andeditedpapers.AnynationalsocietywhoseprimaryactivityisininformationmayapplytobecomeafullmemberofIFIP,althoughfullmembershipisrestrictedtoonesocietypercountry.FullmembersareentitledtovoteattheannualGeneralAssembly,Nationalsocietiespreferringalesscommittedinvolvementmayapplyforassoci
