4、ofthenewmachines(ortheirexpectedprofitability)and,ontheotherhand,totheavailabilityofinformationandoftheknow-howtowhichtheusersmusthaveaccess.Stickinessofinformationandrigidityoflearningprocessesgenerateasymmetriesbetweenfirms,whichcombinewithstructuraldifferences
5、todetermineadoptionanddiffusionprocesses.Theinternationaldiffusionofshuttlelessloomsinthecottonweavingindustryinthelateseventiesandearlyeightiesseemstoprovideevidenceofthejointeffectplayedintheiradoptionbythesetwoclassesoffactors,i.e.,thetechnologicalandmacro-eco
