4、impermeablelayers.Sealinghasastrongimpactonsoils.Thedegreeofsealingisrelatedtothetypeoflanduseandtothepopulationdensity.Sealedareasarestillincreasing,anditisoftenthemostfertilesoilswhicharesealed.Thenegativeeffectsofsealingarepartialortotallossofsoils,e.
5、g.forplantproductionandhabitats,andanincreaseinfloods,aswellasanincreaseinhealthandsocialcosts.Ontheotherhand,sealedareascontributehugelytothegrossnationalproductofacountry.Themosteffectivecontributionsforreducingsoilsealingareexpectedtocomefromtheengine
6、eringsciences.Othercontributionscouldbemadebytheeconomicandsocialsciences.Itisalsoimport-anttoaddresstheproblematapoliticallevel,e.g.bypassinganinternationalconventiontopreventsoilconsumption.Despitealltheseproblems,soilscanstillexistunderneathsealedarea
