4、tionfiniteelementmethod.Theelastic-perfectlyplasticmaterialisadaptedinthefiniteelementmethod.Withthestrengthreduction，thenonlinearFEMmodelofjointedrockslopereachesinstability，andthenumericalnon-convergenceoccurssimultaneously.Thesafetyfactoristhenobtainedbystrengthreductionalgorithm.Atth

5、esametimethecriticalfailuresurfaceandoverallfailureprogressarefoundautomatically.Thenumericalconvergenceornon-convergenceisrelatedtotheyieldcriterion.Comparisonismadeofseveralyieldcriteriaincommonuse.TheMohr-Coulombcriterionisundoubtedlythebest-knowncriterion.Butitsyieldsurfaceisanirregu
