6、washypothesizedasmaximizingthequalityorquantityoftheservicetheyproduce(Newhouse,1970).Adifferentview,summarizedbyHansmann(1980),isthattheimpactoftheorganizationalformonthefirmsperformancedependsontheinteractionbetweeninstitutionalstructuresandoutputcharac
7、teristics.Whentheoutputisdifficultfortheconsumertoobserveorwhenasymmetricinformationexistsbetweentheproviderandtheconsumer,nonprofitorganizations,duetotheattenuationofthepropertyright,provideabetterqualityofservicethandothefor-profits.Thisidea,termedthecont
