3、throughinterfaces.Inthispaper,acontinuumtheoryofmultiphaseporousmediaisdevelopedthatcanbeusedtocharacterizetheinteractionsamongvariouscomponents.Centraltothetheoryistheimplementationofthedynamiccompatibilityconditionsmicroscopicallyrep-resentingtheconstrain
4、tsonthepressurejumpsacrosstheinterfaces.Itisshownthatcapillaryrelaxationprocessesarethermodynamicallyassociatedwiththechangesinthevolumefractionsoffluids.Alinearmodelisdevelopedbyaformallinearizationoftheproposedtheory.Forfullysaturatedconditions,thelineariz
5、edtheoryreducestotheBiot’sporoelasticitymodel.Aproceduretoevaluatethematerialconstantsispresentedfortheporousmediawithtwofluids.Thelinearmodelisutilizedtoanalyzethepropagationofacousticwavesinanunsaturatedrock.Thetheoreticalresultsarecomparedwiththeexperimen
